Retracing Jack Kerouac

I was about to start the greatest train journey of my life and one of the very best experiences of my life so far – the journey from San Francisco/Emeryville to Denver is absolutely breathtaking. And it’s forever linked in my mind with Kerouac’s ‘Big Sur’ (‘3000 miles from my home in Long Island (Northport) in a pleasant roomette on the California Zephyr train watching America roll by…). Of course the train looked much different in his time and was run by a different company in his time, but as far as I’m aware the route was pretty much the same. I will be posting quite a few photos from the trip in the next few weeks.
